In the 1970′s, Led Zeppelin defined hard rock for generations to come. Still today, countless rock and heavy metal bands trace their roots back to Zeppelin. And at the heart of Led Zeppelin’s style was John Bonham. Bonzo defined the hard drummer with a jazz background.
Check out this solo and note how he plays some solo licks with Jimmy Page (guitar) and then lays down some serious chops in his solo (complete with some nice ostinato work on the hi-hat).
And here’s my favorite groove from Bonzo! Be sure to checkout the short solo at the very end!
